2-hour intro class overview

Darlo Drama's 2-hour Intro Class lets you step into the world of beginners acting for adults - this class is designed to give you a taste of what we offer before joining our signature Level One course.

In this class you will play drama games, do a bit of impro, have fun and meet new people. You you will build connections with other adults in a fun, accepting and supportive environment.

Adults come to an acting class for a variety of reasons. Some have always wanted to give acting a try, some are looking to develop more confidence, some are just wanting a creative outlet from their busy lives.

Whatever your reason, you are always welcome at Darlo Drama.

Our Intro class operates from various locations in Sydney CBD, suburbs and surrounds, where we create a safe space for you to have lots of fun, meet new people and connect to your creativity.

At the conclusion of the Intro class we invite you start your beginners acting journey, and to enrol in our Level One Beginners Acting course for adults.

Class outcome

At the completion of the Intro class participants will have awakened their sense of play, they will have found some confidence in their self-expression, and they will have begun to gain an insight into the personal growth and positive learning experiences that come from an adult beginners acting course.

Requirements to enrol

All students must be over 18 years of age to join Darlo Drama.

Specifically designed and tailored for absolute beginners, no experience required to participate in our Intro class.

Darlo Drama Upper North Shore operates from the lovely West Lindfield Community Hall, 2 Bradfield Rd, Lindfield.

Our space provides a great place for Darlo Drama's Best for Adult Beginners Acting courses.

With a warm and friendly atmosphere, break out areas, kitchenette, refreshments station, and safe and secure off street parking. Step through the stage door and begin your acting journey at Darlo!

More about the beginner's acting journey

Our beginner's acting course journey aims to develop and extend on acting skills across three levels of training. Each level is a pre-requisite to the next, with distinct learning outcomes which build upon each other across a methodical and crafted learning pathway.

Level One – The Monologue
Learn the basics of acting, play drama games, improvise, create a character and perform a monologue

Level Two - The Scene
Work with a partner to develop relationship on stage, listen and respond to evolve a performance, and perform with a partner in a scene

Level Three – The Story
Explore the arc of a story, develop a variety of characters, and perform multiple roles in a range of performance texts.

Whilst you can complete the three levels in your own time, the skills of acting are best developed where you complete all levels of the Beginners Acting Course Journey within a 12 to 18 month period. This allows for the ongoing and consistent development of skills and knowledge over time. If you have previous experience you may be eligible to enter into the program at a higher level.

As an intro class attendee you will have the opportunity to sign up to Level One with a special discount offered at the end of class.
