Our Level One course operates from various locations, where we create a safe space for you to have lots of fun, meet new people and connect to your creativity.
Level One is completed over 8 sessions. Classes are held once a week for 3 hours with a performance to friends and family in the final session. We proudly provide a safe and nurturing environment for students to learn in.

Level one course overview
Classes start gently, allowing a safe place for you to PLAY and EXPLORE with fun games, trust exercises and improvisation. As time goes on, your group will begin to get more COMFORTABLE, RELAXED and SPONTANEOUS. You will find confidence in self-expression, learning techniques to assist with presenting in front of a group, working through “stage fright” and connecting to an audience while developing your communication skills.
The course covers a range of topics, including creativity, presenting, voice and movement, ensemble work, improvisation, imagination and performance, developing performance confidence, and script work.
One of the unique features of Darlo Drama's Level One Beginners Acting Course is that it is taught by expert tutors who are experienced leaders in the field of acting and adult education. The tutors at Darlo Drama are passionate about their craft and are dedicated to helping you achieve your full potential. Through your work with them you will learn to discover a monologue script, develop a character, explore their motivations and backstory, learn voice projection and take direction.
Through the building of deeper, more authentic approaches to connecting to others and embracing a spirit of bravery and generosity we will help you to find a greater sense of personal leadership and confidence through acting.

By the end of the course, you will be ready to perform…it sounds daunting we know – but trust us, we are with you every step of the way!
This performance is a significant milestone for everyone in the group, as it provides an opportunity to apply the skills and techniques you have learned throughout the course and to find the courage and joy to step onto the stage.
The performance is also an opportunity to celebrate your achievements with family, friends, and fellow students in a supportive environment.

The Beginners Acting Journey
Our Beginners Acting Course Journey aims to develop and extend on acting skills across three levels of training. Each level is a pre-requisite to the next, with distinct learning outcomes which build upon each other across a methodical and crafted learning pathway.
Level One – The Monologue
Learn the basics of acting, play drama games, improvise, create a character and perform a monologue
Level Two – The Scene
Work with a partner to develop relationship on stage, listen and respond to evolve a performance, and perform with a partner in a scene
Level Three – The Story
Explore the arc of a story, develop a variety of characters, and perform multiple roles in a range of performance texts.
Whilst you can complete the three levels in your own time, the skills of acting are best developed where you complete all levels of the Beginners Acting Course Journey within a 12 to 18 month period. This allows for the ongoing and consistent development of skills and knowledge over time. If you have previous experience you may be eligible to enter into the program at a higher level.

- Pay UPFRONT prior to course commencement: $595.00
- Pay in SIX instalments: $110 x 6 weekly payments
